frequently asked questions
Still Got Questions?
How often do piano lessons usually take place?
Typically, lessons are weekly, and students who are more invested or committed to learn piano may request two lessons a week.
What towns do you teach in? Where are you located?
I currently teach piano in the Eastern Queens/Western Long Island region. Towns include but are not limited to: Little Neck, Great Neck, Manhasset, Lake Success, Glen Oaks, Mineola, Floral Park, Garden City, New Hyde Park, Jamaica, Douglaston, Fresh Meadows, Oakland Gardens, Bayside, Auburndale, Broadway, and Whitestone. My studio is located in Little Neck.
Are your rates the same if the piano lessons were in your home versus in my home?
Depending on the distance and traffic, there may be a commute charge. The best way to find out is to contact me.
I’d like to learn piano online, how would this affect my learning experience?
I have a multi microphone setup, and a flexible camera setup. With my tools, I have all the necessary tools to teach piano online effectively. All I would need from you is a decent camera angle showing your hands, and any microphone. A smartphone is all that is needed for me to provide the same level of feedback I would provide for my in person students.
Do you provide any services other than teaching?
I provide recording services in my studio with professional gear including Sony FX30, Zoom F6 and a multi-microphone setup, I also provide accompaniment work as well.
Who do you recommend for tuning and piano repair?
My piano is mainly serviced by Aidan Timoshenko. I endorse his work ethic and he shows a lot of care to my piano. His website is https://timoshenkopiano.com/
Am I too young or old to learn piano?
No one is ever too young or too old to learn any instrument, let alone piano. Piano is an amazing instrument to learn for any age, and piano has the most compositions out of all instruments. There are many benefits to learning piano, regardless of age.
Do you teach students with varying levels? Do I need prior knowledge for your lessons?
You do not need any prior experience for my piano lessons. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced student, there is always more to learn and improve.
What payment methods do you accept?
I accept cash, check, zelle, venmo and paypal.
Do I need any specific piano books?
I will recommend a set of piano beginner books based on the student’s age and current level. If you took piano previously, I will likely continue using the books you were using.
Do you provide any performing opportunities?
Yes, I currently have a studio recital for my students once a year.
Can my child be prepared for NYSSMA/ABRSM/competitions?
Yes I can provide instruction to excel in all events. Some students have passed the highest NYSSMA and ABRSM levels with the highest scores. I have students who also have passed international piano competitions in the NYC area and performed in Carnegie and Merkin Hall.
