About Me
While at Mannes, he participated in festivals such as the International Keyboard Institute and Festival and Mannes Sounds Festival, both founded by Mannes piano professors. He had the privilege of working with Daria Rabotkina, Massimiliano Ferrati, Quynh Nguyen, John Kamitsuka, and Oxana Yablonskaya in masterclasses.
Meyer started his piano pedagogical career while at Mannes in his second year. In his senior year, he shifted his focus to pedagogy, taking as many applicable pedagogy classes in music as he could. In that same year, he worked as a Mannes tutor in two fields of study: Music Theory, and Ear Training and Dictation. In addition to his pedagogical and solo studies, Meyer rehearsed and performed with many colleagues in their classes, masterclasses, and regular performances.
Before coming to Mannes, Meyer studied with Mannes graduate, Mark Evans, a piano and theory professor at SCCC School of Music. Meyer worked extensively with his high school music department, accompanying the honors and chamber choir. He also worked with the school’s annual musical. With the recommendation from the head of the choir department, Meyer was employed to accompany rehearsals and auditions for the regional choir of CBS 06 for their holiday concert series, Melodies of Christmas.
He also worked with many vocalists in his high school for their NYSSMA auditions. His last employment in high school involved accompanying his choir director’s private students in their annual recital. Meyer was also recognized as a pianist in other nonmusical departments, and was asked to perform in multiple Junior Proms and Senior Balls. He performed with his school’s music faculty and fellow colleagues in chamber performances both in school, and out of school.
